Player Profile

Simon 'Rambo' Ramsden - a 24 year old Yorkshire boy from Rotherham (who, incidentally, doesn't support Rov'ram but Man Utd. Hmm!) - joined the club in the early stages of the 2008/2009 season. Plying his trade at centre back, and occasionally in a Cherno Samba role up front, he made an impressive 18 appearances for the first team in his debut season, contributing a couple of goals along the way.

Rambo currently 'studies' English Literature at Manchester Metropolitan University and has just completed his second year. He aspires to be a successful screenplay writer in the future. Quoting Alfie Allen as the famous guy most people say he looks like, he'd much rather Dolph Lundgren (the big Russian from Rocky IV) portrayed him on the big screen in a film about his life! Singing badly, playing some golf and the occasional games of tennis are hobbies Simon enjoys away from the stressful life of being a VMFC player.

The good atmosphere that goes with being part of the club is something Simon particularly enjoys; that and having nothing better to do on a Sunday are his reasons for playing for the Village! Simon has captained the club on a few occasions in the absence of club regular Jez and this is the highlight of his stint with the club thus far.
