Player Profile

David James Clifford of Carshalton, London, is one of the younger guys at the club having racked up just 24 years of existence! Dave joined the club in 2008 and he currently lives in West Didsbury portraying the role of Mrs Shapiro. By profession Mr Clifford works for Esso (though not at the pump he is keen to stress!).

Playing at left back, Dave likens himself to Ashley Cole on the pitch; 100% commitment and is good going forward. However when it comes to comparing their actual abilities, he's a bit more like Cheryl than Ashley. And just as bad at singing, too. Supporting Chelsea is Clifford's flaw - we all have them - and his favourite player is John Terry. He also controversially claims that Frank Lampard is 'better than that Stevie G clown'. Scandolous! His looky-likey is Matthew Horne, of Cordon and Horne 'fame' and Vin Diesel is the ideal guy - if he worked out more - to play Dave on the big screen. Away from football Clifford likes to indulge in some red wine drinking and has a future ambition to be Doctor Who's assistant or become Prime Minister. Apparently the two roles aren't mutually exclusive!

The cracking bunch of lads and the camaraderie are why Dave enjoys being part of the club, and cites playing his 'first decent game against Blaze' as gratifying! But most importantly, nothing comes close to meeting the one that has changed his life significantly and positively and in a way no one else could...Monty the Monkey, won during the Donkey Derby at the recent club weekend in Blackpool. Oh happy days.
