Rob McPherson

Player Profile

Rob McPherson is 24 years old, and hails from Coleraine! He currently lives in Manchester and works in Public Relations, and he joined the club in the summer of 2006. He plys his trade at centre back or in the middle of the park, and likens himself to Jamie Carragher when on the pitch!

Another one of the Liverpool fans at the club, Carragher is also Rob's favourite player, saying although it may not be the prettiest, he gets a job done! Well said sir! Often found drinking anything between Fosters, Carling or a cheeky Voddy and coke, Rob says resident Ireland bad boy Colin Farrell would play him on the big screen ("Well, he has to be fit and Irish!"). He does, however, quote Louis Theroux as his looky-likey! Away from work and football, McPherson says he enjoys watching a fair bit of TV and a bit of FIFA or Football Manager go down well too! He once sang in a promotional video for his hometown by the way; karaoke for McPherson, anyone?

Being able to play football and having made a lot of mates are the main reasons why Rob enjoys being a part of VMFC. When asked what his favourite moments where: "Lifting the GFSN Cup. We were losing 2-1 with three minutes to go then we score two in as many minutes to win 3-2! Scoring my first goal for the club was good too - it was a half-volley from the edge of the box…that went straight through the keeper's body!"
