Match report:

VMFC2 v New East Manchester

Sunday 7 April 2013

The afternoon saw the VMFC 2nds take on New East Manchester in a friendly that was a repeat of the team's final league match of the season two months ago that resulted in a 4-1 victory.

The first half was dominated by Village and, after a couple of missed chances, Pete Ransom scored the opener, converting a simple chance from Tom's low cross. This was followed up by Alexis, who shot low from the penalty spot after good work from Johnathan.

New East Manchester grabbed a goal back just before half time and went on to have the better of the second half as Village showed a bit of rustiness and a few tired legs after a long period without a match. The scoreline remained the same until 15 minutes to go when a throughball was converted, and then a bit of a mess at the back handed the game to the opposition with five minutes to go, with several failed opportunities to clear the ball being punished.

At this stage the result isn't as important as the opportunity to get 90 minutes on the pitch. The 2nds travel down to Nottingham on April 20th as the preparations for Dublin begin and hopefully this match will get everyone in shape to compete well.
