Meet
George
March 2017 featured player: George Walpole
Name:
George Walpole.
Real age:
24.
Grindr age:
N/A.
Home town:
Salford born and raised.
When did you join VMFC:
Summer 2016 for the fun that was pre-season fitness.
Former clubs, if any:
None (as is evident with my playing ability!)
Greatest Village moment:
Being asked to captain the seconds in their game against Saltire… even though it was our biggest loss of the season.
What club do you support:
Manchester City.
Favourite Village bar (if not your thing, say where is):
Is this where I’m supposed to say Via? Saying that, they do put on great food for us and it is genuinely a really great place. However, my favourite place to go on a night out is View. [George obviously doesn't do the Village much as View closed down months ago - Ed]
What do you do for a living:
Financial Administrator (woo… exciting… I know!)
Do you participate in any other sports:
I VERY occasionally run and somehow survived completing Tough Mudder in 2016.
What else do you do to relax:
KFC… Mcdonalds… McTuckys… order take-aways in… basically I just sit there, eat a lot and whinge about putting weight on.
Current favourite song:
Either Aint Nobody by Rufus and Chaka or How will I know by Whitney Houston. But if we’re talking favourite current song then it’s be Rockabye by Clean Bandit
Current favourite TV show:
American Horror Story. Season 3: Coven is the best season and if you disagree then please keep your wrong opinion to yourself ;)
All time favourite film:
Finding Nemo… “He touched the butt”
Relationship status:
In a relationship
Favourite footballer (for football reasons):
AGUEROOooOoOOOoo – simply for THAT goal.
Favourite footballer (not for football reasons):
Either Harry Winks (Spurs) or Jack Wilshere (Arsenal) but I can’t decide so I guess I’ll just have to settle for both.
Preferred position (on the pitch!):
Centre Back.
Describe your playing style:
Head ‘n’ hoof – either one as long as it puts it far away from my goal!
Premiership player your style most matches:
Good ol’ Richard Dunne! I don’t do much other than head the ball and the only chance I’ll have of scoring is by putting the ball in the back of my own net.
What made you want to try VMFC out for the first time?:
I saw the stall at pride and wanted to do a bit of exercise that wasn’t mundane. Then after nearly a year of finding excuses to get off my lazy arse I decided to actually get off the couch and head down. I honestly regret taking so long to pluck up the courage/motivation to join as I have really enjoyed my time here!
Why should new players join VMFC:
VMFC is an extremely welcoming and supportive club. It doesn’t matter whether you’re young or old(er), in shape or think you’re not that good as the training put on each week will cater for your ability and build up your confidence. You’ll be training and playing in a fantastic atmosphere with a bunch of great lads and travel to different places (I’ve already played in Leeds, London and Scotland this season). The club are even going to Miami this year and Paris in 2018! Oh, did I mention that the first month is free?
