21-25 August 2014
One of the highlights of the year for Village Manchester FC is, of course, Manchester Pride. This year we were busier than ever. Scroll down for a selection of photographs.
On Thursday we entered two team's into Taurus Bar's It's a Gay Knockout annual silliness. And we came both first and second! It's the second year in a row we've won this hugely important tournament!
On Friday we hosted our great friends from Liverpool, Mersey Marauders, to the first Manchester Pride Cup and beat them 4-0. Check out the team list here. We are hoping to make the Cup an annual fixture.
On Saturday we joined thousands of others marching on the Manchester Pride Parade. This event has become one of the biggest there is, and the team is always thrilled with the warm reception from the tens of thousands of onlookers. This year we were delighted to march alongside the Gay Football Supporters Network, Football v Homophobia, Rainbow Referees, Canal Street Blues (Manchester City's LGBT supporter club) and even City's mascots Moonchester and Moonbeam.
Over the weekend we also joined forces with the above to run a joint stall at the Pride Expo, and were thrilled to have Manchester City FC there on the Saturday afternoon with a penalty shot speed system for passers by to have a go at.
On top of this we partied hard and it didn't even rain until the end of the bank holiday Monday.
The club would like to thank all those who marched in the parade, took part in the Knockout, manned the stall, played in the Cup match and helped to organise a very successful weekend.
Now it's time for some sleep!
