Tournament Time for VMFC!
1 February 2016
Village Manchester has two teams that are involved in both local and national leagues but the club is also eager to take part in as many tournaments as possible to get pitch time for its players. In the upcoming months the club has confirmed that it is competing in a number of tournaments up and down the country.
Later this month the club will be travelling down to the capital to take part in the Soho Tournament - a 9-a-side competition being held at Coram's Fields in the centre of London. The football is on Saturday 27 February and the club will be joining the other teams on a night out on Old Compton Street after the action on the pitch.
The following month Village Manchester will cross the Pennines to compete in the Yorkshire Tournament. After a two year break the 5-a-side competition will take place on 19-20 March with the draw taking place at ‘The Bridge’ on the Saturday night. The football kicks off at 11am on the Sunday and will be played just outside of Leeds. Players and supporters will be asked to make a contribution to the mental health charity CALM following the death of ex-Nottingham Ballbois, Yorkshire Terriers and Village Manchester player, AJ.
In May the club have been invited to take part in Nottingham Lion’s 10th Anniversary celebrations. The celebrations involve an 11 a-side tournament taking place on Saturday 14 May followed by an Anniversary Party later that evening.
Finally, in June the club will be competing in the GFSN’s Summer Get Together in Leicester. The East Midlands city has been chosen so that Leicester Wildecats can celebrate their anniversary. The Get Together – taking place on 10-12 June - involves a football tournament, watching the England v Russia Euro 2016 game and lots of drinking!
So as you can see, it is a busy few months ahead for the club! Does it sound like something you would want to get involved with? Then get yourselves down to training for your free month and join the club!
