VMFC First Team joins the Lancashire & Cheshire League

5 July 2016

VMFC is delighted to announce that from September 2016 our first team will be playing in the Lancashire and Cheshire Amateur Football League. After spending most of our 20 years playing Sunday mornings in the Manchester Accountants League, we'll be moving to Saturday afternoon games in the L&C League.

The L&C has been in existence for 108 years and VMFC was voted into the league at their AGM in June. Moving to a Saturday league wasn't an easy decision, but we are excited by the challenge that joining the new league, with its eight divisions compared to the Accountants League's two, will bring.

In additiion to a much larger division structure, the matches themselves will have the added interest of geography; whereas all our opposing teams in the Accountants League are based at our home pitches in Wythenshawe or close by, the L&C, with almost 100 teams, is spread across Greater Manchester.

Bring it on!
